Life as expatriate in Accra City, Ghana

Living in other part of the World is an interesting experience, to know and learn the culture of the locals. West Africa is an interesting part of Africa as well. I got a chance to live in Accra for one year. The safety was okay while I rarely went out in the night. In the afternoon, I walked around the city safely. The locals were friendly to greet you.

a. Koala supermarket – Osu, Cantonments / Oxford street

Here they have a lot of imported food and beverage products. It is a bit expensive compare to other supermarket. Every month there will be discount price on the product, just keep an eye on it.

b. Shoprite – Osu / Oxford street

It has good selection of grocery products. They have very good selection of beef and pork. The Beef products come from South Africa.

c. Marina Mall - marina supermarket

I used to buy my weekly grocery here. They have good sortiment of grocery products. The price is affordable and very good offer sometimes.

d. Great Wall supermarket, Chinese grocery shop – Osu, next to the roundabout

Here they have very good selection of Asian food product and beverages, snack, fresh vegetables.

e. Maxmart 37 - Next to Golden Tulip hotel

It is one of high-end supermarket. The supermarket offers big range of grocery products.

f. Accra Mall

g. Makola market – cheap and you can find all you need. Wholesale market. You need a local to guide you here. If not, you may lose yourself in the middle of nowhere.

h. On the street – Snack stall, fruits stall when the mango season is.
