The first
chance when your hubby asked let us have lunch at Vintage Asia, I gave directly
big smile on my face. It was a great lunch experience in Vintage Asia.
Marriott as
the biggest chain International Hotel, it is one of the best hotel that I ever
visited whenever I was. I have visited quite few hotels in the world because of
my hotelier job. The JW Marriott Kolkata impressed me as I saw the big building and grandiose lobby.

The
security team gave me best impression with Namaste greetings. It is very rare
that I see a security guard gave a smile in 5 stars hotels. JW Marriott
Kolkata made me a WOW factor as I stepped in the grandiose lobby. It was not
Burj Al-Arab. But for the Kolkata standard, it has given a beautiful
impression.
We sat in the
lounge for a small drinks, the lounge is still half under construction. After quick
drinks, we headed on to Vintage Asia for our lunch. We had reserved it the day
before to avoid any fully booked condition. The warmest greeting is given by
the hostess. We were escorted to our table next to the open kitchen area. It
was great table to see the whole restaurant operation.
The menu is
presented and the bottle of water is offered and the complimentary jasmine tea
from a copper teapot with extended mouth. It needs training to serve tea from this long mouth teapot. It is a signature
thing that could be used as entertainment if the staff could do it properly.

We love to
try different varieties of food when we travel. We travelled mostly for food.
The food order is mostly done by my husband. All dishes in the menu are
mouth-watering. It was difficult to decide and with the help of waiter, we
decided to take chicken wonton soup, deep fried prawn with wasabi sauce,
chicken satay and shimeji mushroom with sweet Thai basil as appetizer. We chose prawn fried rice with XO sauce, beef tenderloin with black pepper sauce and chicken Kung Pao.

The food tasted amazing and incredible good. Nothing has been left out. All has been eaten. We had some 10 minutes break between our appetizers and main courses. The best dishes that we found out from today meals are Shimeji Mushroom with Thai Basil and Prawn fried rice with XO sauce.
The attention of detail from the service staff was very good. They never missed out our table even though they were busy with the groups and few big tables. We are not kind of picky guests that service staff must be around us. The service staff just did their standard of service and it is more than enough for us.
We finished up the main courses. The table is cleared up right away. As usual, dessert is asked but we refused it, we rarely take dessert in restaurant. Then, the waitress, Ms. Ipshita Saha, used her upselling skill to sell the delicious homemade ice cream or coconut Crème Brûlée. We asked once again wether the ice cream is made in-house. Then we decided to take the selection of homemade ice cream.

In conclusion, It was a great experience having lunch at Vintage Asia. Looking at the show of open kitchen, the action of the staff and operation is the best live movie that I love to see whenever I dine.
