Kuala Lumpur, the capital city of Malaysia. As the motto states "Malaysia truly Asia". Here you may find diversity of culture. As a muslim country, Malaysia is pretty opened to the globalism in term of tourism, technology, hospitality service
Kuala Lumpur trip – main purpose is looking for good
and tasty street food (especially duck, pork and chicken)
First day, we arrived early morning in Kuala Lumpur.
As a first timer, we bought a taxi coupon from the counter. It cost us RM 85
from KLIA 2 to Sheraton Imperial Hotel. There is other way to reach the city
center of Kuala Lumpur such as KLIA express or bus. For the bus, it will reach
KL sentral and you may continue your journey with GoKL bus, monorail, LRT or even
Uber/Grab is available as a transportation choice in Kuala Lumpur.
We check-in into Sheraton Imperial Hotel. It is five
star hotel in the city, old building but they keep maintain the room, it was
very comfortable for 5 days stay. The room needs to be renovated.
The room was not yet ready so we walked across the
street to Quill City mall to have a quick breakfast. The mall is huge and we
went down to the dining/restaurant area. We found the chicken rice shop and the
hanged steamed/roasted chicken is very tempting. We were the first guest, we
ordered for the healthy meal combo and another plate of half steamed chicken.
The healthy combo consists of chicken rice, single portion chicken, boiled tofu
and egg, boiled kailan in oyster sauce, chicken soup and one beverage. The
meals were very delicious after the late night flight.
We were back to hotel and have a quick rest/nap to
bring our body and soul back.
In the evening, we ordered a taxi through Uber. It is
very reliable the Uber service in Kuala Lumpur. We went to Bangsar Village. It
is quite far away from the city centre area. It is a non-tourist area, you may
see the locals where they hang out, dine out, shop for grocery. In this area,
there are few bars and restaurants as well.
Service is very attentive, quick and friendly team.
They serve complimentary soups. The meals were very tasty; the meat was very
juicy and tender. Rice was a bit salt less but never mind after mixing it with
some duck sauce.
We had dinner at Village roast duck at Bangsar Shopping Village, it is well known
for the duck. We ordered, of course, the Cantonese roast duck (half portion),
roast pork, char siu (roast pork in honey glazed), rice wrapped in the lotus
leaf.

After the meals, we drove back to the hotel with taxi.
Then we walked around the hotel area, found the nearest hang out place. In the
middle of our way, we looked at the KL tower with the light (keep changing).
We hanged out at Healy’s mac nearby the KLCC; it is
typical irish pub with music. It was fun and very friendly staff.
The second day in the KL, we have a late breakfast and
early lunch (Brunch). A place which is recommended by my friend, it is nearby
the hotel, reachable by feet. The name of restaurant is Yut Kee which is well
known for the roast pork. But unfortunately it is available on Friday to
Sunday. So we just had the beef noodle soup, porridge with minced pork, kaya
roll, and I had the cold milo. It was inexpensive breakfast for two of us.
Afterward, we found a taxi and went to Suria KLCC. It
is a one of the biggest shopping mall in Kuala Lumpur. We roamed around the Petronas tower and visited one the tallest building in the world.

We bought ticket to go up to the top and the sky bridge. The ticket cost RM 85 per person.

Afterward, we walked back to hotel and have a look
around the Kuala Lumpur city. We chilled out in the pool of Sheraton Hotel.
For dinner, we decided to visit China town at Petaling
street, we used the Uber service. It is a very affordable transportation and
reliable service. Uber gave RM 7 discount from the ride. We stopped at the 90,
Jalan Sultan (back side of the China town) in order to avoid the traffic jam.
We roamed around the china town street (Jalan Hang Lekir). You may see the
variety of hawker stall with different kind of products (clothes, bags, shoes,
souvenirs, watches, etc.)
After roaming around the china town, we decided to
have dinner in front of a book store and Tang city hotel, Bee Cheng Hiang shop.
We just sat in one of the round tables, looked around the people and ordered
wonton noodle soup, half roasted chicken, roast pork and spicy pan mee noodle. The
meals were so tasty.
The third day in Kuala Lumpur
After a long sleep and short swimming exercise in
Sheraton pool, it is a time to full up the energy level with Friday brunch at
Yut Kee Restaurant. It was a busy day and the restaurant was fully packed with the
locals and a few tourists. We had to queue and gave our name and number of
people to the uncle. He called us after the seat was available.
After 10 minutes, the seats were available; we had to
share the table with other guests. We ordered, of course, the roast pork. We were
hungry that we ordered two portions of three slices roast pork and one beef
noodle soup. I had the steamed bread with kaya coconut jam. The kaya jam was
not as tasty as the one I had in my hometown.
The roast pork was already cold served with
undercooked boiled potatoes and vegetables (carrots and green peas), apple
chutney and cold brown sauce. The taste was okay for me, nothing so special.
After the meals, we paid the bill at the counter by mentioning the table
number.
After the heavy brunch and the super hot weather in
Kuala Lumpur, we decided to walk back to the hotel and chill out in the room with
HBO movie and pool hours in the afternoon.

In the evening, we met my friends at JP Teres, Grand
Hyatt Kuala Lumpur. It is a modern property with the sky lobby and view of
Petronas tower and KL tower. It is amazing. JP Teres serves Asian cuisine with
mamak style. We tried the beef rendang, variety of satay with peanut sauces,
prawn in spicy chili sauce, noodle in mamak style, roasted/steamed chicken,
spring roll, crackers (fish/shrimp), chicken soup. While catching up with my
friend, we finished up the dishes anyway.
After resting our belly and digesting
the meal, we drove to Alor Street and walked around the street. It was an
amazing street full up with hundred of restaurant (mainly seafood), hawker stalls.
Then we ended up at Changkat street and decided to hanged out with some drinks
at Healy’s Mac Irish bar.
